My Concept
You want to learn guitar and need support to get started? Or have you already gained knowledge on the instrument, but can't get any further?
Whether beginner or advanced, in a relaxed atmosphere and central location I teach you everything you need to achieve your musical goals. Fun and motivation are always at the forefront!
It is my goal to respond to your wishes and to support you optimally with the help of modern teaching methods (e.g. through play-alongs, videos). Age plays (almost) no role - ideally, lessons can take place from six to over 60 years!
With over 15 years of stage, studio and teaching experience, we work on many common styles (pop, blues, rock, metal, jazz, fingerstyle, acoustic and electric) or improve the areas you need most to progress. I place great emphasis on well-prepared, structured and individual lessons.
Are there any questions or are you interested in a first lesson? I am looking forward to your message!

FAQ
Most frequent questions and answers
A "guitar lesson" with me currently lasts 50 minutes including organization (such as payment or even arrangement of the next lesson).
There are three rates (all quoted per lesson) from which you can choose:
- Flexible individual lesson (50min): 50 Euro, flexible bookable without commitment, payment after each hour
- Pack of 4 (à 50min): 45 euros, flexible bookable, paid in the first hour for all four hours at once
- 10 pack offer (à 50min): 40 Euro, weekly or bi-weekly (excluding vacations or vacation - gladly by arrangement), paid after the first lesson (complete block of 10). A "Joker" for a super short notice cancellation is still there 🙂
The lessons take place at Capistrangasse 3. In a bright, inviting and friendly studio, we have everything we need for the lessons. The premises are very centrally located (4 minutes' walk from Neubaugasse U3 station). You can find detailed directions at Contact.
That always depends somewhat on the current schedule. In principle, I'm very flexible and have teaching days that already allow hours in the morning and such days when I teach until 8 pm. We will certainly find a suitable slot that we can then fix.
I recommend taking lessons weekly or (if you don't get to practice that often) bi-weekly. Due to vacations, sick days or other absences, there will be longer times anyway. However, this is basically up to you (except for the cheaper block of 10 - see the separate point here in the FAQs).
Yes, that is possible. However, please always cancel 24 hours in advance, so that I can still reorganize, otherwise the hour must be unfortunately verrchnet (since a loss arises for me, which I can not replace so quickly). So in case of doubt (severe cold or similar) please be on the "safe side".
Absolutely - that's an important point that we address in the first few hours. What are your wishes and priorities? What is still lacking? How is your self-perception? We discuss these things calmly and then develop a plan!
It has always been a concern of mine to be "at home" in the most diverse styles and genres. So over the last 30 years I've played everything from classical to pop/rock, metal, jazz, classical as well as fingerstyle and singer/songwriter - also live on stage. My current focus is jazz. But that doesn't mean anything for lessons 🙂 there every style is always welcome.
Definately not. It is often not easy to develop a good knowledge of notes, especially for the guitar. You need them especially in the professional area (studio sessions, band, big band, etc.).
But what I like to "recommend" is the rhythmic notation. This is quickly learned (step by step, of course) and incredibly useful for your own playing and making music with others.
Yes, definitely. But I incorporate that into the lessons on an ongoing basis. This is especially true for the topics "groove, rhythm and interplay". I also always start with the ear, but that also depends on your previous experience. In the beginning, the focus is on listening to music attentively, perceiving instruments and being able to "separate them mentally". Later we listen to bass tones together and develop a feeling for chord sequences and melodies.
Oh, yes we can. It also depends a bit on the effort it takes to "get" sheet music. It can be researching on the internet or listening out. I offer it, but I can't do it for every lesson, otherwise it would be too time consuming. But we also sit down together and learn how to listen out songs ourselves.
I handle it like this: The most important thing for me is that you learn something that you enjoy and that brings you further musically. This already applies to the first lesson, from which you can certainly take away some impulses and new knowledge. In addition, there is no commitment - just choose the single rate, there is no risk or hidden costs... but also no free trial lesson.
I've been playing guitar for 30 years, 20 of them live, and teaching a wide variety of genres and students* for 4 years. The exact number I can hardly say, it is a few dozen now 🙂
So in principle, no. Lessons make sense from my experience from six years (here are also writing and reading skills just emerging) and can be given until well over 60 years!
Glad you asked 🙂 Two really essential things actually:
a. I am for 100% transparency in teaching. If something is not right for you, I will tell you honestly and we will find a solution. Instrumental teachers are also trusted people and trust comes from honesty and openness.
b. Actually all students suffer from the fact that they supposedly (!) do not learn fast enough and are not good enough. It doesn't matter whether someone is already very far along or someone else is very slow. This feeling creeps in with almost everyone. Making music is not a sport or a performance competition - it's about your personal contribution, your own voice and what you have to say. Comparing yourself with "what you should be able to do" and "how good you are" distracts from the essential points... and stresses you out unnecessarily.
I've put together a few T&Cs and also tips, I always hand them out in the first lesson.
